How do you feel about your name? Is there a story behind it? How unique is it? Do you wish it were more unique?
Last spring, a Times article reported on a trend in which many new parents were seeking uncommon baby names, and even hiring baby-name consultants to help. For instance, after the birth of her third child, a baby girl named Whimsy Lou, the lifestyle influencer Nara Smith posted a video to TikTok listing some of the names she and her husband liked but did not ultimately use. Among them were Tank, Clementine, Flick, Halo and Dew.
What do you think of names like those — or Heart, Ethereal, Prosper, Afternoon and Orca, names that Francesca Farago, a reality television star, said she and her husband considered?
What would you name a child if you had one? How much would you mind if the name you chose were popular that year, so that your child would be one of several with the name in their class?
