By Dr. Jason Feig, Manager of Khan Academy Districts Partnerships in the Midwest

Last month, I had the privilege of standing alongside Ohio Senator Jon Husted at Tipp City High School to celebrate a milestone that’s bigger than any single district—it’s a glimpse into the future of education in America.

With the launch of one of Ohio’s first AI-powered learning labs, Tipp City Schools became a founding site in the newly announced Ohio AI Education Network—a statewide initiative bringing cutting-edge AI tools and training to K–12 and higher education institutions. Khan Academy is proud to be a key partner in this effort, working alongside NWN, AI OWL, and Intel to bring this vision to life.

What made this moment so powerful wasn’t just the state-level spotlight, though that was certainly meaningful. It was knowing that what we’re building here in Ohio is part of something much bigger—a growing national movement.

Across the country, Khan Academy is partnering with state departments of education to advance AI equity for all students. Our goal is simple: ensure every learner, no matter their zip code, has access to the tools, skills, and support they need to thrive in a world influenced by AI. That’s what makes initiatives like the one in Tipp City so exciting. They’re not pilot programs or experiments. They’re real, scalable models of what the future of education can—and should—look like.

Khan Academy is uniquely positioned to lead this work. As a nonprofit, we don’t answer to shareholders. We’ll never be sold. And our bottom line is—and always will be—learning. That’s why state leaders trust us to help guide responsible, student-centered integration of AI in schools. When we deploy tools like Khanmigo, our AI-powered tutor and teaching assistant, it’s not just about showcasing innovation. It’s about enhancing equity, saving teachers time, and helping students grow in confidence and curiosity.

See how Khanmigo works for districts

Tipp City is showing what’s possible when that mission meets strong local leadership. For the past three years, our partnership with the district has steadily grown—from early conversations about personalized learning to full-scale integration of Khan Academy’s platform. The launch of this AI lab is a natural evolution of that work.

Through Intel’s Digital Readiness curriculum and the support of Khanmigo, Tipp City students now have daily, hands-on experiences with the same tools shaping the world around them. And thanks to programs like Ohio TechCred, their teachers are gaining access to free, state-funded professional learning that builds confidence and capacity in using AI effectively.

I’ve seen firsthand how this kind of support changes classrooms. It’s about ensuring that every student, in every school, has a shot at success in a rapidly changing world.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the visionary leadership of Superintendent Aaron Moran and High School Principal Katherine Weaver. Their unwavering commitment to innovation and student opportunity has turned big ideas into real results. It’s been an honor to work with them, and I can’t wait to see where they lead next.

At Khan Academy, we believe AI should serve learning—not the other way around. Tipp City Schools reminds us what’s possible when that belief is put into action. This isn’t just a moment to celebrate. It’s a model to replicate—and we’re just getting started.

You’re invited to see how Khanmigo works in a short demo, and learn more by getting in touch.
