A reader wrote in to the Times Style section to ask, “How do you deal with visits to ‘shoeless’ homes? It’s often a surprise, so you can’t plan ahead with cute socks or by making sure you’ve recently had a pedicure.”
Before you read the advice a Style critic offers, what would you say? Is yours a “shoeless” home in which family and friends are asked to remove their footwear, or do you keep your shoes on inside the house? What is your reasoning for that preference?
